It sort of evolved as Glenn released more buildings. The actual layout is based on Lincoln, NM with the centre of town inspired by "El Paso" in For A Few Dollars More.

I really like that you laid it out on a slant. I know that the play area is the same, but setting it at a slant makes it seem bigger.

The map Glenn provided for Lincoln had the main street on a slant. I decided to stick with that as it gives me more space to add in buildings. The areas outside town are a bit bigger this way too.
